This is a D-Day Commemorative Medal, honoring the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944. It is often associated with the Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The D-Day invasion (Operation Overlord) on June 6, 1944, a pivotal moment in World War II that began the liberation of German-occupied Western Europe.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces (SCAEF) and was responsible for the final decision to launch the invasion.

Dwight D. Eisenhower, American general and 34th President of the United States, was the principal leader of the successful Allied invasion of Europe during World War II and of the subsequent defeat of Nazi Germany. He was supreme commander of the victorious Allied armies and was later elected to two Presidential terms by huge majorities-first in 1952 and again in 1956. Eisenhower was born in Texas in 1890 and grew up in Abilene, Kansas. After high school graduation, he was accepted at West Point and received his commission as a second lieutenant in 1915. With the advent of World War II, he rose in rank from lieutenant-colonel to five-star general within a four-year period. Not only did he successfully command the most powerful force ever to be assembled under the leadership of one man, but he was the only man ever to command such a multinational group of ground, sea and air forces. In 1950 Eisenhower was appointed supreme commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces, becoming the first man to command a large peacetime multinational force. The characteristics that made him an outstanding military administrator served him well during his two terms as President.

The round is titled "FREEDOMS FOUNDATION AT VALLEY FORGE".

It features an image of George Washington kneeling in prayer.
