Bob Hope the world-famous comedian, was born in Eltham, England in 1903. He was four years old when his father brought the family to Cleveland, Ohio, and it was here that Hope received his grammar school and high school edu-cation. He was a good athlete, but his brief career in the boxing ring ended unsuccessfully. He decided, instead, to enter show business and joined a road show musical comedy in which he danced, sang and played the saxophone. Gradu-ally he developed his rapid-fire comedy technique and his uncanny ability for faultless timing. Successful vaudeville tours and several Broadway musicals led to Hope's first radio appearance in 1935. In his first movie, made in 1938. Hope sang Thanks for the Memory, which was to become his theme song. When the United States entered World War II. he was asked to serve as an entertainer to build troop morale. His first show took place at March Field in California and was the start of many such shows which have taken Bob Hope to almost every American overseas service base. During the war and in the years that followed, he and his troupe appeared in Europe, Africa, Alaska and the Pacific theater, entertaining an estimated 11 million Gls. His Christ-mas show became an annual tradition.

The round is titled "FREEDOMS FOUNDATION AT VALLEY FORGE".

It features an image of George Washington kneeling in prayer.
