This coin is a 2012 Canadian $1 Calgary Stampede 100th Anniversary Proof Fine Silver Coin, minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. It was issued to celebrate the centennial of the Calgary Stampede, often referred to as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth".
Finish: Proof (frosted image against a mirror-like background).
Reverse: Designed by artist Steve Hepburn, it depicts a cowboy participating in a bareback bronc rodeo event, fighting for control as the horse kicks up a cloud of dust. The "Calgary Stampede" text uses a Western typeface reminiscent of old-time rodeo posters.
Obverse: Features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
