The coin commemorates Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), a Nobel Peace Prize laureate known for his work as a missionary, theologian, humanitarian, philosopher, doctor, and musician. 

He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of "Reverence for Life". 

Schweitzer is particularly famous for founding and sustaining the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon. 

The coin likely dates from 1975, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth.
