This is a Chinese 10 Yuan commemorative silver coin issued in 1998 to mark the 60th anniversary of Dr. Norman Bethune's arrival in China. 

It features a portrait of Dr. Norman Bethune, a Canadian physician who served as a military surgeon with the Chinese Communist forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War. 

The reverse side features a portrait of Dr. Norman Bethune and a scene of surgery. The text around the edge reads "THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARRIVAL OF DR. NORMAN BETHUNE IN CHINA" in English and Chinese characters. 

This specific coin design was nominated for the "Best Contemporary Event Commemorative Coin" in the 2000 Coin of the Year award competition. 

The text across the top in Chinese characters reads "中华人民共和国" (People's Republic of China), with the year "1998" at the bottom. 

Features the National Emblem of the People's Republic of China, which is the Tiananmen Gate in the center, encircled by a wreath of rice and wheat, and topped with five stars.
