This is a 1986 Canadian Silver Dollar commemorating the Centennial of Vancouver and the Transcontinental Railway.
This coin was released to celebrate two major milestones: the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the city of Vancouver (1886–1986) and the centennial of the arrival of the first Transcontinental passenger train in the city.
Design: The reverse features a steam locomotive (the Canadian Pacific Railway's No. 371) moving toward the foreground with a mountain sunset in the background, designed by Elliot John Morrison. The obverse (not shown) depicts Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin is struck in .500 fine silver, containing 0.375 troy ounces of pure silver.
