This is the 1992 Canada Commemorative Silver Dollar, specifically issued to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the Kingston-to-York Stagecoach transit route established in January 1817.
Designed by Vancouver artist Karsten Smith. It depicts a lone coachman steering four powerful horses through winter snow. Because the pioneer mail carrier, Samuel Purdy, could only maintain regular service during the winter months, the stagecoach is equipped with winter sleigh runners.
Features the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
