This is a commemorative West German 10 Deutsche Mark silver coin issued for the 1972 Munich Summer Olympic Games.
Features two kneeling athletes on the reverse, surrounded by the inscription "Spiele der XX. Olympiade 1972 in München".
Because these coins were struck in very large quantities (millions of pieces per mint), they are relatively common and highly accessible today. Their market value is closely tied to the prevailing price of silver bullion.
This specific version reads "IN MÜNCHEN" (In Munich). An earlier, mistaken batch of these coins was originally minted with the text "In Deutschland" (In Germany). Because Olympic games are traditionally awarded to cities rather than countries, the East German Olympic Committee formally protested the design. West Germany subsequently corrected the inscription for later runs, making both versions interesting pieces of Cold War numismatic history.
