The reverse features Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the founder and first governor of Montreal, holding the plans for the Fort of Mount Royal. The background depicts the modern-day skyline of Montreal.
It is struck in 14-karat gold (58.33% gold, 41.67% silver).
The opposite side displays the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Canadian artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
