This is of a 1999 Canadian 25-cent coin from the Millennium Quarter Series, specifically the coin for December, titled "This is Canada". This series featured monthly commemorative designs selected through a national contest to celebrate Canada's history leading up to the new millennium. 

The "This is Canada" design in the image depicts, with geometrical shapes, native dwellings, cities, mountains, forests, wheat fields, and the wheels of industry, symbolizing the richness and variety of the country.

This is the reverse side of a 1999 Canadian 25-cent coin, specifically the December "Birth of the New Millennium" edition. 

The reverse design was created by J.L. Pierre Provencher, as indicated by the "JLPP" initials on the coin. 

It features a stylized maple leaf, a caribou (a traditional Canadian coin motif), and a series of rising bars representing progress towards the future.

The coin is part of a 12-coin set released throughout 1999, each representing a different aspect of Canadian history or heritage.
