These coins were issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to commemorate the XV Olympic Winter Games held in Calgary in 1988. 

Each coin features a different winter sport, such as figure skating, curling, ice hockey, and skiing, which were events at the Calgary Olympics. 

The coins are made of .925 fine sterling silver and have a face value of $20. 

They are notable for being the first Canadian silver coins to feature edge lettering, which reads "XV OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES - JEUX OLYMPIQUES D'HIVER".
