It celebrates the 25th anniversary of Dr. Roberta Bondar’s historic 1992 mission aboard the space shuttle Discovery, where she became Canada's first female astronaut.
The coin features a curved (convex) shape and incorporates glow-in-the-dark technology to recreate the view of Earth from space.
It is struck in 99.99% pure silver with a weight of approximately one ounce.
Designed by Canadian artist Alexandra Lefort, the reverse depicts North America with a focus on Canada, framed by an outer band commemorating Dr. Bondar's mission.
